Friday we took advantage of Emma Kate’s school holiday and visited the NC Zoo in Asheboro. It was Emma Kate’s second trip to the zoo and a first for Jack (who, in his own words, was afraid the lions were going to eat him!). We were going to surprise Grammy with an early birthday visit, but Chris called ahead and she was able to take the day off and join us. We all enjoyed the beautiful weather, miles of walking, and time together observing all the amazing animals. Emma Kate says the sea lions and red-bottomed baboons are her favorite! Jack says he liked the polar bears. He practically walked from North America to Africa and back (in zoo miles)! We are now officially “friends of the zoo,” so we look forward to many more trips to come this year.
