This week, we used Emma Kate’s spring break and Malinda’s pregnancy as excuses to get together at the beach for some girl (+ Jack) bonding time. My mom and I drove with the kids and met Malinda at North Myrtle Beach. We stayed ocean front, 17 stories up, and enjoyed a little bit of fun in the sun, lots of time in the “lazy” river, and some dining, shopping, and entertainment for the kids. Emma Kate and Jack both really enjoyed swimming indoors- the highlight for them was playing “Donald Duck, Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse” in the pool (and each time Emma tagged Jack, she dunked him under so that he spluttered above the water and kept going). Malinda’s trip highlight was meeting a new friend on the beach (see picture below- he “said” he thought she was his wife). We visited Ripley’s Aquarium, which includes a tunnel-like aquarium- surrounding us with sharks, turtles, and lots of fish. It was amazing to be so close to the sharks that you could actually count their three rows of teeth! We all enjoyed our time together, and it was great to see Malinda feeling better. A big “thank-you” to Dad for funding our trip!
