It is amazing how quickly this summer has flown by; Emma Kate starts back to school next week and we are certainly not ready! This summer, the kids have spent a lot of time just playing and being kids (something I think is pretty important). A couple of highlights from the last couple of weeks:
Thanks to Savannah’s mommy, Miss Carol, Emma Kate participated in a book club this summer. The girls read four stories and took turns hosting book club meetings. Although it was a struggle to motivate my resistant child to spend so much time reading, we had a lot of fun discussing the stories and EK enjoyed participating in all the fun book club activities. Emma Kate’s book choice was the first of the Sleepover Squad series; in this picture, the girls are dressed in their pjs making cupcakes (just like the characters in the story):
The kids and I went to visit Miss Evelyn and Nickolas and paid our first visit to the Children’s Museum in Winston. We spent 3 hours there, and the kids had a lot of fun. Climbing Jack’s beanstalk was a favorite activity:
We had to say goodbye to our dear friends and neighbors, the Rileys. We will certainly miss them! Before leaving, Miss Debbie thought to get a picture of some of the first kids on the street:
